Special Report: First Combat (Declassified)

Triad Command has confirmed the first battle has occurred between Triad Forces and elements of the Calanor VOX fleet.

History

Located in the Crux constellation, the Calanorian system has three suns and twelve planets. The total population of the Calanorian civilization is 35 billion life forms. Calanor is located 1,000 light years from Earth.

The Calanor Federation was infected approximately six months ago. At that time all direct contact was lost and their fleets and ships seemed to withdraw back to the home system located in the constellation of Crux.

Long distance sensor reports and listening posts maintained as close as could be dared have been tracking traffic, both ship and communications that led them to believe the Calanor VOX would be on the move shortly.

Yet, currently, all Calanorian Fleets still seem to disperse from two major points: Beta Crux Alpha (Fet) and Gamma Crux Alpha (Zur) within the Calanorian system to various base stations within their realm of influence (Refer to TNN Report: The Fall of Calanor).

Combat Background

The Calanor use a unique attack pattern. Called the "spoke" (Figure 1). The Calanor will put their target in the center of a curving ring of ships, forcing the defensive systems to constantly shift their fire to the greatest threat and minimizing the damage done by the defensive fire. This also drains power to the weapons very quickly leaving the victim out of power and battered into submission or destroyed.

Declassified Details of the Battle

Figure 2 is an officially release and cleaned photo snapped during the battle. The location of this battle has only be identified as just outside Calanorian space. Unconfirmed sources have identified the area by the Nebula in the background as probably NGC 3132 on the Vela Antila border.

Triad gunships, cruisers, and fighters can be seen engaging Calanor VOX elements of what is believed to be the 23rd Calanor Explorer Fleet, led by the heavy Cruiser Dak'rath, and under the command of Anatar Taroin.

Summary

The Calanor ships were destroyed or driven off after heavy fighting. This appears to only be a probe and not a full scale invasion outside of Calanorian space. As more information becomes available, TNN will keep you apprised.

As stated before: Any ship or life form from the Calanor Confederation should now be considered hostile and their ships destroyed. Intelligence updates on the disposition of the Calanor VOX fleets will follow soon.
